Mannix - Parte 1
Mannix era uma série de detetive
criado por Richard Levinson e William Link e desenvolvido pelo produtor
executivo Bruce Geller (criador de Missão Impossível) e protagonizado por
Mike Connors. Durante a primeira temporada da série, o personagem
principal Joe Mannix trabalhava em Los Angeles, para uma agência
denominada Intertect.
Seu superior era Lew Wickersham,
interpretado por Joseph Campanella, que dispunha de vários recursos
tecnológicos, como computadores, que era uma novidade na época, em sua
agência, para ajudar a revolver os crimes.
Mannix pertencia ao arquétipo do detetive
clássico norte-americano e assim normalmente ignorava as soluções
tecnológicas, vivia desobedecendo às ordens de seu chefe, para fazer tudo
a seu modo. Mannix era um sujeito sem muitas pretensões, mas tinha muitos
pesadelos por ter lutado pelo exército americano durante a Guerra da
Coréia, onde uma quantidade considerável de velhos amigos do exército
acabou tendo impulsos homicidas.
Outra coisa que chamava bastante atenção dos
espectadores era a notável quantidade de castigo físico que o pobre
detetive sofria. Durante o curso da série ele é atirado, ferido, espancado
uma por uma dúzia de vezes, deixando-o muitas vezes
inconsciente.
Quando a segunda temporada teve início,
Mannix trabalhava sozinho, por conta própria e contava com a ajuda de uma
secretária chamada Peggy Fair, viúva de um policial, interpretada pela
Gail Fisher, notável por ser uma das raras atrizes afro-americanas a
participar regularmente de um seriado numa época de muitos conflitos
raciais nos Estados Unidos.
Ele também recebia ajuda da polícia,
principalmente de dois oficiais, o tenente Art Malcolm, interpretado por
Ward Wood e o tenente Adam Tobias retratado por Robert Reed. Os outros
policiais de contato era o tenente George Kramer e Dan Ives.
A abertura do espetáculo se caracteriza por
uma tela dinâmica dividida em vários quadros, onde apareciam as algumas
cenas e a música tema, composta por Lalo Schifrin. A série foi apresentada
originalmente nos Estados Unidos, pela rede CBS, entre 16 de setembro de
1967 a 13 de abril de 1975, num total de 194 episódios, de 60 minutos
cada, em oito temporadas.. No Brasil foi exibida pela extinta TV Excelsior
de São Paulo.
